Battery storage
Solar panels make most of their power in the middle of the day, when many homes use the least. A battery stores that power so you can use it in the evening. We fit batteries with new solar systems, and we add them to systems that are already in place.
What we fit
We are accredited by Pylontech for batteries, and by SolarEdge, Growatt, Lux Power, Solis and Fox ESS for inverters and storage systems. We match the battery to your inverter, or recommend a new inverter where yours cannot support one.
MCS certified
JBV Homes is an MCS certified installer. We install batteries to the MCS standard and register eligible installations.
Sizing your battery
Battery size is measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh). The right size depends on:
- How much electricity you use in the evening and overnight
- How much power your panels make on a typical day
- The space where the battery will go
- Whether you want to add more capacity later
We look at your bills and your solar output, then recommend a size. Many batteries can be extended with extra modules later.
Adding a battery to an existing system
- AC-coupled battery. Works next to your current inverter. Useful when the inverter is still in good condition.
- Hybrid inverter. Replaces your current inverter and connects the panels and the battery to one unit. Useful when the old inverter is near the end of its life.

Questions
Can a battery charge from the grid at night?
Many batteries can charge on a cheaper overnight tariff. We can set this up if your tariff and your inverter support it.
Will a battery keep my power on in a power cut?
Only if the system has a backup or emergency power function. Not every battery does. Ask us, and we will tell you what your system can do.
